Former Call of Duty studio chief working on storytelling game in PUBG universe
PUBG Corp. has founded a new studio that will create a game in the PUBG universe with a story. Glen Schofield, co-founder of Sledgehammer games, will lead the new studio to be called Striking Distance.
Schofield says in a video that he will be working on a completely new PUBG game with the new studio. There are not many details about the game yet, but Schofield speaks of ‘an experience that goes beyond battle royale’. There is talk of a narrative game, in other words a game that revolves around story. It is not yet known whether it is a single player game, multiplayer game or a combination of both.
Previously, Schofield worked at Visceral Games as a producer on Dead Space. That game came out in 2008. A year later, he co-founded the studio Sledgehammer Games with Michael Condrey, working on Call of Duty games Black Ops 3, Modern Warfare 3, Advanced Warface and WWII. In early 2018, the founders left the studio.
The new studio that Glen Schofield will lead is called Striking Distance and will be set up in San Ramon in the American state of California. It is a company wholly owned by PUBG Corp. and that parent company will serve as publisher for the new game. It is not yet known when the game will be released.
