Former Arkane Studios leaders unveil new game
WolfEye, the new game studio of two former leaders of Dishonored and Prey creator Arkane Studios, has unveiled its new game. It will be an immersive sim with the theme of the Wild West, but with a dark fantasy twist.
The immersive sim is a game genre that emphasizes the freedom to approach problems in different ways. Examples of such games are Deus Ex and BioShock in addition to Prey and Dishonored. All those games have a first person perspective, but the trailer for Weird West strongly suggests that this game will have an isometric perspective.
The YouTube description further reveals that there is also the possibility to form a posse, so to take a plurality of companions with you. Furthermore, a strong emphasis is placed on the fact that the player’s choices have consequences, as they should in an immersive sim. Finally, the game uses the Unreal Engine.
WolfEye was founded by Raphaël Colantonio, co-founder and former co-creative director of Arkane, and Julien Roby, who was an executive producer at the same studio. The two actually worked on Dishonored and Prey. WolfEye is working with Devolver Digital on the game, which will serve as its publisher. Devolver is known for Hotline Miami, Enter The Gungeon, Shadow Warrior 2 and more. A release date for Weird West has not yet been released. Apart from the notification that the game is on Steam, no further information about platforms is given either.
