The Israeli company Cellebrite has reported a hack on a remote web server. Basic contact information of users of the website is stored on the server, which has been read by the hacker.

Cellebrite indicates that the server only contained information from users who had not yet migrated to a newer system. The stored information also included encrypted passwords. According to the company, there is no risk to its customers, but nevertheless recommends that its customers change their passwords as a precaution.

Cellebrite has previously made headlines for helping the FBI extract an encrypted iPhone 5C. The device belonged to one of the gunmen in the shooting that took place in San Bernandino a year ago.

The company says it has launched an investigation into the hack and has notified affected users and local authorities. It promises to take necessary steps to improve security once the investigation is completed.
