Ford comes with smart car window for blind passengers

Spread the love

From rolling hills to a range of mountain ranges; the view makes every road trip unforgettable. Blind passengers miss this experience. A new prototype car window from Ford now has the goal to allow blind and visually impaired people to experience the passing landscape through touch.

Feel The View

Feel The View creates photos that are rapidly converted into monochrome images with high contrast. These images are then reproduced on the glass by means of special LEDs. When the image is touched, different shades of gray vibrate with a range of 255 different intensities.

This allows the passengers to touch the scene and reduce the landscape. Feel The View was conceived and developed by Ford Italy and GTB Roma, in collaboration with Aedo, an Italian start-up specializing in devices for blind and visually impaired people.

How it works can also be seen in the video below.

Experiencing motoring

We try to make people’s lives better and this was a great opportunity to make blind passengers experience a great aspect of driving, technology is advanced, but the concept is simple – and could turn everyday trips into beautiful memories, “says Marco Alù Saffi, Ford Italy.
