Football club Juventus is only in eFootball PES 2020 and not in FIFA 20
Konami has signed a three-year contract with football club Juventus, which means that the team is only in eFootball PES 2020 and not in FIFA 20. In the FIFA game that comes out this year, the team is called Piemonte Calcio. The players are in FIFA 20 with their real name.
Konami speaks of an exclusive partnership and says that eFootball PES 2020 is the only console game in which you can play with Juventus. It is striking that Konami specifically refers to the console version, the game is also coming to the PC, but it is not clear whether the situation is different there.
EA has put a page online about the arrival of the fictional club Piemonte Calcio to FIFA 20. That club takes the place of Juventus. Because Konami has an exclusive license, EA is not allowed to put the Italian club’s name, logo and stadium in the game. The Juventus players, including star player Christiano Ronaldo, are in FIFA with their real name, likeness and attributes. The players’ licenses are arranged separately from those of the clubs.
It is striking that Konami has concluded an exclusive license with a large football club, usually those roles are reversed. For years, licenses of some teams have been missing in PES, while they are present at FIFA. Last year, the exclusive license for the Champions League also went to FIFA, while Konami had the exclusive right to it for years with PES.
Part of the new deal that Konami has struck with Juventus is that the developer will have access to the players themselves to accurately incorporate their likeness into the game. Full body scans were made of all players. The Juventus stadium is also accurately recreated in the game, according to Konami.
Konami will release eFootball PES 2020 on September 10. Competitor FIFA 20 will follow on September 27.
