Foldable iPhone will be released in 2023 and works with Apple Pencil

Apple is said to be working on a foldable iPhone with Apple Pencil support. The Apple Pencil now only works with the iPad. If the rumors are correct, this iPhone will appear in 2023.

Foldable iPhone with Apple Pencil

The rumor comes from the research firm Omdia – but it is certainly not the first time that there has been speculation about a foldable iPhone. The iPhone would get an OLED screen of 7.3 to 7.6 inches. In comparison, the largest iPhone at the moment, the iPhone 12 Pro Max , has a 6.7-inch screen.

The report refers to an ‘activity pen’ that works in combination with the foldable iPhone. This probably means a kind of Apple Pencil. The Apple Pencil is Apple’s pressure-sensitive stylus that is now exclusive to the iPad. Rumors about an Apple Pencil that works with the iPhone are certainly not new. Actually, this has been talked about since the first release of the Apple Pencil.

For the current iPhones, the Apple Pencil still seems a bit nonsensical. The screen simply offers too little space for the creative uses of the pen. But if the future iPhone does indeed get a bit bigger, it would not even be that bad. The iPhone is then almost as big as the current iPad mini.

Lots of speculation

Earlier this year, there were also rumors of a foldable iPhone. Apple is currently even testing two variants of such a device. In the first prototype, two separate screen parts would be connected to each other by means of a hinge. And then there is also a model with a screen that is flexible and therefore really foldable. Apple has also already filed a patent for a self-healing screen, for when minor damage occurs when folding.
