Fitness game Ring Fit Adventure is coming to Nintendo Switch in October
Nintendo has announced the fitness adventure game Ring Fit Adventure. The game comes with a so-called Ring-Con and a leg band, which have already been shown by Nintendo. Ring Fit Adventure releases October 18 for the Nintendo Switch.
Ring Fit Adventure is bundled with a leg band and a so-called Ring-Con. These accessories use Joy-Con controllers to recognize movement. For example, thanks to the leg band, players can jog in place to move forward. The Ring-Con and leg strap come standard with the game.
Ring Fit Adventure promises to be a full-fledged role-playing game with a game campaign in addition to a fitness game. In the game, monsters challenge users to fitness battles. The enemy and the player take turns attacking each other with fitness exercises. Nintendo promises that there will be more than 40 different types of commands. These exercises are divided into four categories. For example, red assignments use arm muscles, yellow exercises use trunk muscles and blue assignments use leg muscles. Green assignments are inspired by yoga exercises. When the enemy attacks, gamers must press the Ring-Con against their abs. This creates a shield that weakens the attack.
Defeating enemies and completing a course earns experience points, which help users level up. When this happens, new exercises are released, among other things. The length of each game session is determined by the player. The difficulty of the exercises can also be adjusted. For example, an experienced sportsman can opt for a greater challenge, while someone with little fitness experience can also participate.
Outside of the game campaign, there is also a quickplay option. In this mode you do a short series of exercises. In this mode, users can choose to train individual muscle groups, play mini-games, or go through a full-fledged fitness routine. The game also has a silent mode that can be played without stomping. After a drill, how the player has performed is displayed. Estimates are made of, among other things, the number of calories burned and the distance traveled. In addition, the heart rate can be measured. This seems to work through a sensor on the Ring-Con.
Last week, Nintendo already showed a glimpse of the Ring-Con and leg band. Since the game requires Joy-Con controllers, the game probably won’t work on the upcoming Nintendo Switch Lite. How expensive the game bundle should be is still unknown.
