Wearable manufacturer Fitbit has released version 3.0 of its Fitbit OS. The update for the Ionic and Versa models includes a more extensive dashboard and more targeted training options. In addition, Fitbit announced a series of new apps for the smartwatches.

Once updated to Fitbit OS 3.0, the main screen of the Fitbit Ionic and Versa will become a lot more informative. From now on you can also see your sleep and training overviews at a glance. Furthermore, users can more easily keep track of their weight and water intake. Also new in OS 3.0 are more comprehensive exercise stats, which include heart rate information and activities per hour. Furthermore, targeted training options have been added for more than fifteen forms of movement, such as running, cycling and swimming. For example, you can set goals for calories burned, distance traveled, or exercise time.

Fitbit also announced ten popular apps that were previously unavailable for the platform. These include ‘achu health’, ‘Couch to 5K’, Genius Wrist and MySwimPro. Other applications that users can expect to see in the Fitbit App Gallery soon include FitBark, Mindbody, Noonlight, and TRX. The wearable manufacturer is also introducing a Fitbit Exercise API and a number of open source developer tools to help programmers develop health and fitness apps faster and more efficiently, as well as new watch faces for the smartwatches. The first tools, Alpine Snow and Skateboard, are now available.

Finally, the Fitbit app will be equipped with Female Health Tracking trends in early 2019, which will provide a comprehensive overview of the menstrual cycle.
