Fitbit introduces Luxe fitness tracker with amoled screen and steel housing
Fitbit announces its Luxe fitness tracker. This tracker has an AMOLED screen and a housing made of polished stainless steel. The company is also releasing a stress management feature, which will also be available for current Fitbit wearables.
Fitbit reports in a press release that the fitness tracker should have a “jewel-like look-and-feel”; the Fitbit Luxe has no physical buttons and is Fitbit’s thinnest fitness tracker yet, the company writes. The wearable is operated entirely via an AMOLED touchscreen. Fitbit supplies the tracker with a rubber wristband as standard, which is interchangeable for other variants. The company comes with Horween leather straps, stainless steel mesh straps and a Parker stainless steel link bracelet.
The manufacturer mentions few concrete technical specifications in the press release. Fitbit does claim that the battery life is up to five days. The company lists several fitness features; the fitness tracker has 20 workout modes built in, including golf, pilates, spinning and tennis. The wearable could also automatically recognize workouts and has GPS to keep track of walks, bike rides and runs. The Fitbit Luxe also supports continuous heart rate measurements.
Fitbit also comes with a new stress management feature. Users are presented with a score that assesses their body’s ability to handle stress on a daily basis. This score is based on activity level, sleep and heart rate. The feature will be introduced with the Fitbit Luxe, but will also be available on the Charge 4, Inspire 2, Sense, Versa 2, and Versa 3. Fitbit Premium subscribers get additional stress-management features, including mindfulness sessions and exclusive workout modes. Fitbit ships the Luxe with a six-month Premium trial.
The Fitbit Luxe has a suggested retail price of 149.95 euros and will be released worldwide this spring, the company reports. The wearable can be pre-ordered from Monday at Fitbit. The company is also introducing a Special Edition of the tracker, which comes with a gold-colored Parker stainless steel wristband. This version costs 199.95 euros and will be available in June.
