Fitbit extends support for Pebble watches until the end of June

Fitbit has extended support for Pebble watches until the end of June 2018. This means that the Pebble download store and Timeline functions will still work, while Fitbit previously only said support would last at least until the end of last year.

After June 30, the Pebble app store will go offline, as will the voice recognition and Timeline servers for third-party apps, Fitbit reports. The apps will continue to function, although they will never receive updates. The Pebble forum and development tool CloudPebble will also go offline on June 30.

Support lasts longer than many users expected. When Fitbit acquired Pebble at the end of 2016, the company only said it would continue to support the smartwatch until the end of 2017. It is the first time Fitbit has specified a concrete date when it will end support.

Pebble users whose watch has defects can no longer claim warranty from the manufacturer, because Fitbit did not take over the warranty when it bought Pebble. Fitbit bought Pebble and used the software as the basis for its own first smartwatch Ionic.
