Fitbit announces three successors to existing smartwatches, the Inspire 3, Versa 4 and Sense 2. The Fitbit Inspire 3 will be released in September for a suggested retail price of 99.95 euros. The Versa 4 and Sense 2 will be available in the fall for 229.95 and 299.95 euros respectively.

The Fitbit Inspire 3 features an always-on color display for the first time in the Inspire product line. Most other functions correspond to the Inspire 2. This is how the smartwatch keeps according to the manufacturer Monitor the user’s activities 24 hours a day, including ‘steps taken, calories burned, activity per hour, heart rate, heart health, stress and sleep quality’. The fitness tracker would last up to 10 days on a full battery and is waterproof up to 50 meters deep.
The Fitbit Versa 4 and Sense 2 are also broadly similar to their respective predecessors, including using Fitbit OS, not Wear OS. According to Fitbit, the new smartwatches have a ‘thinner and lighter design’ and the physical button is back. Furthermore, the battery life of six days, the charging time of 12 minutes for one day of battery and 24-hour tracking remain. Fitbit promises to bring Google Maps and Google Wallet to the two new smartwatches soon.
Furthermore, the Fitbit Sense 2 has a new Body Response ‘stress sensor’. The ceda sensor measures the variations in electrical activity in the skin throughout the day. In this way, Fitbit can make an approximation of the stress level of the user and how activities such as meditation and relaxation respond to this. The company previously incorporated an eda sensor into the original Sense, but this sensor only worked after activation, not continuously.
