Fitbit adds Calendar app to smartwatches with update
Fitbit has announced an update to the operating system that runs on its smartwatches. For example, there will be a Calendar app and Fitbit will add more advanced ways for sleep tracking. The update will be out next month.
Fitbit OS 4.1 also includes a way to switch between pre-selected watch faces from the wrist, Fitbit says. The software also includes Smart Wake, a way with which your watch wakes you up at a time when you are not deeply asleep. Users also receive a Sleep Score for their night’s rest.
For the Versa 2, the update also includes some specific improvements, such as a better always-on screen. The update will be released in three weeks for all smartwatches from the manufacturer, such as the Ionic, Versa, Versa 2 and Versa Lite.
It is unknown what the future of the operating system will look like. The acquisition of Fitbit by Google should be completed next year. It is unknown whether the watches will then run on Google’s Wear OS or whether Google will continue to support Fitbit OS.
