The first stable version of AsteroidOS has been released. Version 1.0 runs on various smartwatches that came out a few years ago. AsteroidOS is an alternative to Wear OS, which is now on the smartwatches.

Users can flash AsteroidOS while erasing Wear OS or putting AsteroidOS on the watch and booting via fastboot, while maintaining Wear OS, writes Android Police . The support of functions differs per watch. Currently, AsteroidOS supports the LG G Watch, LG G Watch Urbane, LG G Watch R, Asus Zenwatch 1, Asus Zenwatch 2, Asus Zenwatch 3 and Sony Smartwatch 3.
Many elements are present, including support for showing notifications and running apps and watchfaces. The connection to the telephone is via a app that is located in the F-Droid download shop . AsteroidOS is completely open source and based on GNU / Linux.
In the future, the developer wants to add grouped notifications and an always-on screen to AsteroidOS. Also, more watches need to get support for the operating system. AsteroidOS has been in development for four years.
