First specs of HTC-made 5″ Nexus phone appear online
The first specifications of a HTC-made Nexus smartphone with a 5 “screen have appeared online. The device is codenamed Sailfish and, like all Nexus hardware, it is named after an animal from the sea.
The codename Sailfish stands out because it is also the name of a mobile operating system. The Finnish Jolla has been making Sailfish OS for several years now. The HTC-made Nexus phone seems to have no relation to that.
The screen has a diagonal of 5 “and a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels, reports Android Police. It is unknown whether it is an LCD or OLED screen, but it is obvious that it will be an OLED screen. An OLED screen is required for Google’s own vr platform Daydream and HTC has already done business with supplier Samsung last year, which supplied the OLED screen for the HTC One A9.
The soc would have four 64-bit processor cores at a maximum of 2GHz. It seems that it is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 with a lower clock speed. The 820 is clocked at up to 2.15GHz by default, but there are no other quad-core processors in the market for more expensive phones. The RAM has a capacity of 4GB and in terms of storage, there is at least a 32GB variant.
Android Police reports one or more speakers at the bottom of the phone. That differs from previous Nexussen, which have had speakers at the front since 2014. That is also a function that HTC made popular on smartphones with the One M7 from 2013. The battery is said to have a capacity of 2770mAh.
The Sailfish would be the smaller and cheaper of the two Nexus devices. HTC and Google are said to have another one in development, with a screen around 5.5″. Google often releases new Nexus hardware at the same time as a new Android version. The search giant previously announced that the new Android version will be released before the end of September. appears.
