Telltale Games has released a first batch of screenshots from Tales from the Borderlands. At the same time, the studio announces that the first part of the episodic game will be released sometime this summer. The game appears to be coming to both PlayStation and Xbox.

Telltale Games doesn’t make the announcement much more specific than “this summer.” The studio also won’t announce when the next parts will be released or how many parts it has planned. The series of screenshots does give a little more clarity about the platforms on which the episodic game appears because the studio has released two variants of the same five screenshots; a series with a PlayStation interface and a variant with an Xbox interface. However, it is not clear for which variant of both consoles the game will appear.

Telltale announced Tales from the Borderlands in December. The game is based on the two Borderlands games created by Gearbox Software. While both Gearbox games are shooters, Telltale’s game is an adventure, just like the studio’s hit The Walking Dead games.

In Tales from the Borderlands, players alternately step into the shoes of the two characters already featured in the trailer that Telltale released in January. Turns out, these Fiona and Rhys aren’t Vault Hunters, the roles players take on in Gearbox Software’s two Borderlands games. According to the developers of Telltale and Gearbox, both protagonists come from the common people who inhabit the planet Pandora. Fiona turns out to be a well-dressed con artist who relies on her verbal skills. Rhys relies on his robotic arm.
