First MMO from Amazon’s game studio will be released in May 2020
Amazon Game Studios has revealed more details about its first MMO, New World. The game will be released exclusively for PC in May 2020. In addition, the company has released a new trailer.
New World will be released in May in a Standard Edition for $40; the Deluxe Edition with additional skins and emote sets costs $50. The game will be released on Steam and players will not need an Amazon account to access the open world MMO. There will be a closed beta in April for players who pre-order the game.
Amazon Game Studios’ first MMO revolves around the island of Aeternum, which was inhabited by the Ancients in the distant past. They made use of the powers of Azoth, which, among other things, would ensure eternal life. Settlers attempt to take control of the island in the 17th century, battling rivals and an evil force called Corruption.
New World can be played solo and as a team. The game features battles with up to 100 players and NPCs, and up to a thousand players can be active per server. There will also be a progression system, but there are no classes. Amazon has been working on the game for three years. Another mmo that Amazon is working on is based on The Lord of the Rings.
