First build of CyanogenMod for Galaxy S6 comes out

The first build of custom rom CyanogenMod for the Galaxy S6 has been released. The build is not yet suitable for everyday use. The development of the firmware took a long time because of the Exynos processor in the Samsung device.

Including calling, the camera and sensors do not yet work in the build and the developer also thinks that flashing Google apps is not yet worth it, he says in the thread on XDA-Developers. For now, the build only works on the regular S6 and not on the S6 Edge and S6 Edge+. It is unknown when the first stable version will be released. It concerns CM13, based on Android 6.0.

Making custom ROMs for devices with Exynos processors has been a problem for years, because Samsung gives little support to developers and releases little documentation about its socs. This makes it difficult to develop a custom rom and get it working properly.

The code is available on GitHub. The first version will be released when the device has been available for more than eight months. Despite this, it is one of the few high-end devices from 2015 that has a CyanogenMod build.
