Download Firmware Synology Disk Station Manager 5.1 build 5004
Synology has released the final release of version 5.1 of Disk Station Manager. Synology DSM is the management software that runs on several of the company’s NAS products. The Disk, Cube and Rack Stations offer more than just extra storage space. For example, backups of all clients on the network can be made and files can be downloaded via http, ftp, bittorrent, usenet and emule, so that, for example, energy-hungry PCs can switch off at night while the download just comes in. In addition, audio and video files can be streamed over the network via the built-in iTunes server, a dynamic website can be hosted using PHP and MySQL and the device can act as a print server.
In order to install version 5.1, at least version 5.0 must be present. Furthermore, this version is only suitable for the NAS models ending in 11 or higher. For the other conditions and the different downloads, look at this page. Version 5.1 includes several security improvements. For example, there is a security advisor that warns you about unsafe settings and the Application Armor kernel security module is now enabled by default. Safety Advisor – Safer than ever
The world of network data security is getting more and more complicated. Fortunately, Synology has a new Security Advisor wizard to help with that. By performing in-depth analysis of system settings, password strength, and network preferences, the Security Advisor eradicates security vulnerabilities and blocks your Synology NAS.
DSM 5.1 is also packed with significant security improvements under the hood. AppArmor blocks malicious programs from unauthorized access of system components, while the new trust level feature warns users when they try to install packages that may be malicious.

DSM 5.1 continues to empower private cloud capabilities with enhanced security and flexible synchronization. As for the public cloud, Synology’s Cloud Station can now sync with OneDrive, Box, and hubiC to also take advantage of the great features offered by these popular services.
Data backup – Protect your data the way you want
When it comes to backing up to a remote location, cloud storage plays a vital role in backup strategies for individuals and businesses. With DSM 5.1, you can back up your data directly to Microsoft Azure, SFR, and hicloud.
