Download Firmware Sony Playstation Portable 5.00

Sony has released a new firmware for its Playstation Portables, as we have already reported in this news item. The version number has arrived at 5.00, which adds a Playstation Network icon to the XMB, the handheld’s interface. This allows you to log in to the Playstation Network and then visit the Playstation Store. Games can be downloaded directly to the PSP via WiFi. The list of changes for this firmware release is as follows:

Since October 15, 2008, an update to the PSP system software is available. If you install it on your PSP system, you will have version 5.00 of the system software and the following features have been updated.

The main features updated in version 5.00:

• The PlayStation®Store is now available on the PSP™ system
  From now on, you can download products for free or for a fee using a wireless network connection, such as games, additional game items or video content for the PSP system.
• The video output function of PlayStation® format software to a TV has been improved (for PSP-2000 only)
  You can now display video content from PlayStation format software on the full TV screen. You can now use video output cables that do not support progressive video to display video content from PlayStation format software on a TV.

Video:

• There are now even more file formats that can be played, such as Video Main Profile (AVC CABAC) under MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) with a size of 640 x 480 pixels
  Tip: Some video files of this type may not play.

Music:

• The option [Stand-by timer] has been added to the control panel.

Settings:

• [Titel weergave] is under [Video-instellingen] added.
• [USB-automatisch verbinden] is under [Systeeminstellingen] added.
• [Automatisch aanpassen backlight] is under [Instellingen voor energiebesparing] added.

Others:

• The default theme of the PSP system has been refreshed.
• You can now use a full screen keyboard.
