QNAP is developing version 4.2 of the firmware included on various models of its NAS devices and has now released a beta version. The first thing you notice is the completely redesigned interface. In addition, security has been improved. For example, a two-step login procedure can now be set up, via a login code generated with an app. In addition, media can now be streamed to several devices simultaneously and several improvements have been made regarding virtualization and storage management.

QTS 4.2 provides optimized data management, SSD cache acceleration, and comprehensive backup solutions to improve business efficiency and performance. The revamped Storage Manager adds a handy snapshot tool, allowing you to systematically back up volume and LUN snapshots for future retrieval. Data migration is made easier with JBOD expansion enclosures requiring no network connectivity. Versioning control supports multiple backup versions and lets you roll back data to any point in time. In addition to backing up data to your NAS, you can also back up your NAS data to cloud services for an all-encompassing disaster recovery solution.
