QNAP has released an update to version 4.2.3 of the firmware on various models of its NAS devices, and now the first update with some bug fixes is also available. The first thing that stands out in version 4.2 is the completely redesigned interface. In addition, security has been improved. Bug fixes

  • Fixed an issue where segmentation faults might occur after users enabled UPnP port forwarding when using NAT router.
  • Fixed an issue where users could not log in to Video Station via its URL with a username that contained the symbol “&”.
  • Fixed an issue where Storage Manager could not rebuild RAID configurations when volumes migrated from TS-419 to TVS-871T.
  • Fixed an issue where the supposedly write-protected ISO shared folder could be set as a media folder.
  • Fixed an issue where the NAS could not obtain any device information when only some devices in the domain became unavailable.
  • Fixed an issue where users could not specify static IP addresses for adapters when using Safari to access the NAS.
  • Fixed an issue where intermediate SSL certificates could not be validated when Virtual Host was enabled.
  • Fixed an issue where Samba folders mounted from Ubuntu would prevent user access to subfolders added from Windows in File Station.
  • Fixed an issue where Bonjour Browser would display invalid paths when Bonjour Service was enabled for HTTPS.
  • Fixed a myQNAPcloud certificate validation vulnerability (CWE-295).
