QNAP has released an update to version 4.2.2 of the firmware included on various models of its NAS devices. The first thing you notice in version 4.2 is the completely redesigned interface. In addition, security has been improved. For example, a two-step login procedure can now be set up, via a login code generated with an app. In addition, media can now be streamed to several devices simultaneously and several improvements have been made regarding virtualization and storage management. New features
- The WebDAV protocol has been removed from File Station remote connection due to usability concern when copying big files. And the original WebDAV connection will be removed after upgraded.
bug fixes
- Fixed a Linux kernel vulnerability: Dirty COW (CVE-2016-5195)
- Fixed an issue where TS-453A would take longer to shut down after waking up from Sleep Mode.
- Fixed an issue where the administrator could still copy or move files from “/home” to “/homes/admin” despite the conflict between the source and destination paths.
- Fixed an issue where users could not view the permissions of files they found through the search function in File Station after enabling Advanced Folder Permissions in Control Panel.
- Fixed an issue where web browsers would only display a blank page when users opened File Station in a new tab.
- Fixed an issue where TS-453A could not shut down or reboot after a long period of inactivity.
- Fixed an issue where the “Network” section in Control Panel would disappear when users accessed the NAS via myQNAPcloud.
- Fixed an issue where the time on the NAS would fall back eight hours after enabling NTP service.
- Fixed an issue where Tim Machine could not back up the same disk volume again when users enabled encrypted backup.
