Nikon has for her Z 7II-digital system cameras released new firmware, with version number 1.30. These cameras have an fx-cmos image sensor with 45.7 megapixels on board and are suitable for lenses with a Nikon Z mount. The firmware can be installed from a Windows or macOS machine and is approximately 37MB in size. The list of changes for this update is as follows:

Changes from “C” Firmware Version 1.21 to 1.30

  • Skin Tone Balance in Portraits items have been added to the PHOTO SHOOTING MENU and MOVIE RECORDING MENU.
  • The monitor now shows the shooting display whenever it is tilted when On is selected for Image Review in the PLAYBACK MENU.
  • The following issues have been resolved:
    • Custom Setting f4 (Aperture Lock) in the CUSTOM SETTING MENU. was not available when an FTZ mount adapter was attached.
    • While focus would normally remain locked if the AF-ON button was held down while the shutter-release button was being used to take a series of photographs, if shooting was delayed by:
      • Custom Setting a6 (AF enable) in the CUSTOM SETTING MENU. set for AF-ON only with Enable selected for Release. if not in focus,
      • Continuous L or Continuous H selected for Release mode,
      • Single AF selected for Focus mode, and
      • Single-point AF selected for AF-area mode.
    • The flash-ready lamp on SB-5000 flash units did not illuminate when a WR-R10 or WR-R11b was used for wireless remote flash photography.

Changes from “C” Firmware Version 1.20 to 1.21

  • Fixed an issue that in rare circumstances resulted in unusually loud noises from the aperture mechanism when the zoom or focus rings on F-mount lenses connected via an FTZ mount adapter were rotated.

Changes from “C” Firmware Version 1.10 to 1.20

  • Added support for NIKKOR Z MC 50mm f/2.8 and NIKKOR Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S lenses.
  • Improved focus point display in live view during face/eye detection and focus tracking AF.
  • Improved Face/Eye Detection AF and subject visibility performance with optional flash units.
  • Detection times improved for autofocus in low light when Focus mode is set to Single AF.
  • The following issues have been resolved:
    • Selecting Focus for Custom Setting a1 (AF-C priority selection) sometimes resulted in slow shutter response.
    • Focus was sometimes unreliable.
    • Control use of custom Picture Controls created with Picture Control when recording movies at a frame size/rate of 3840 x 2160 (4K UHD); 60p or 50p sometimes led to unexpected results.
