Spread the love

Nikon has for its D40 DSLRs released new firmware with 1.12 as the version number. These cameras have a Nikon DX rbg-ccd image sensor with 6.1 megapixels on board and can be equipped with interchangeable lenses. The list of changes for this update is as follows:

About this firmware update

This download updates the D40’s A firmware to version 1.12. To upgrade the A firmware to version 1.12, the camera must have version 1.11 of the B firmware. Correct operation of the D40 cannot be guaranteed if version 1.12 of the A firmware is combined with version 1.00 or 1.10 of the B firmware.

The following issues have been fixed in version 1.12 of the A firmware

With firmware version 1.11 and lower, fewer images can be captured (battery performance) when using an EN-EL9a than when using an EN-EL9. Upgrading the A firmware to version 1.12 maximizes the performance of the EN-EL9a, so more images can be captured (battery performance) when using an EN-EL9a than when using an EN-EL9.

Number of possible shots (battery performance) when using an EN-EL9a (1080 mAh)

  • Single shooting mode: Approx. 510 shots (when tested based on CIPA standards*)
  • Continuous shooting mode: Approx. 2400 shots (when tested based on Nikon standards*)

*Refer to the D40 owner’s manual for more information on test conditions.
