Download Firmware Nikon D40 1.10

Nikon has new firmware for its D40 camera released which will upgrade the digital camera to version number 1.10. The firmware can be applied to the D40 under Windows and Mac OS. In addition to support for Windows Vista, firmware version 1.10 also introduces a number of useful new features and a bunch of bug fixes. For example, changes have been made to how the white balance is displayed and bugs have been fixed with regard to the light meter and iso settings. The exact list of changes is posted below:

The following improvements are made with firmware version 1.10:

• The camera will be ‘Certified for Windows Vista’ and support the new USB Media Transfer Protocol (MTP). The PTP option in the USB submenu of the setup menu is shown as MTP/PTP.
• The years selectable for the Date option in the World time submenu of the setup menu have been expanded to 2000 – 2099.
• When a white balance setting is adjusted, + or – will be displayed with the white balance icon in the shooting information and shooting menu of the camera.
• The electronic analog exposure indicator flashes in the viewfinder and in the shooting information if the brightness of the subject is outside the range of the exposure control. This occurs in Programmed auto (P) exposure mode when the built-in flash is raised.
• An issue that caused AF-area mode to reset to default when the monitor and exposure meter turned off automatically (meter off) or when the camera was turned off in a scene mode has been resolved.
• An issue that caused the Auto ISO feature to be disabled when a two-button reset was performed while ISO sensitivity was set to an option other than ISO 200 has been resolved.
• Trying to edit pictures that had already been edited on a computer using the options in the D40’s retouch menu sometimes caused the camera to freeze. Therefore, pictures edited with a computer can no longer be edited with the camera.
• The flash output when shooting manually with the Nikon Speedlight SB-400 is now correctly stored in the EXIF ​​data.
• Errors in the English, German, Polish and Swedish menus have been corrected.
