Nikon released a firmware update for its some time ago D300 released digital cameras and assigned 1.1.0 as the version number. With this update, a lot of points are addressed as can be read in the announcement below. For example, the automatic white balance and the focus at various settings have been improved. About this firmware update

This download updates the D300’s firmware to version 1.10. When you perform this firmware update, you must update both firmware A and firmware B. Proper operation of the D300 cannot be guaranteed if the A or B firmware has been updated while the other firmware has not been updated.

Version 1.10 includes the following improvements:

  • The highlight display option has been moved from View mode > Basic data > Highlights in the playback menu to View mode > Detailed data > Highlights.
  • The size and color of the word “Demo” displayed on the monitor during playback when No memory card? in the Custom Settings menu is set to Unlock shutter release, have been changed.
  • Setting the available ISO sensitivity settings > ISO sensitivity auto settings > Slowest shutter speed in the shooting menu have been expanded from 1/250–1 sec. to 1/4000–1 sec.
  • When shooting in handheld live view mode and the image is magnified before autofocus is applied, the image now returns to the magnified display instead of full-frame playback.
  • Images captured with Rotate portrait set to On in the playback menu will not be rotated automatically when displayed immediately after shooting (Image Playback).
  • The Copyright information option has been added to the setup menu. When Copyright information is enabled, the copyright symbol (©) is displayed in the shooting information display.
  • Recent Settings can now be displayed instead of My Menu.
  • Custom Setting e3 Flash control for built-in flash (e3 Optional flash if an optional Speedlight is attached to the camera), can now be added to My Menu using the Add Items option in My Menu via Add Items > Custom Settings menu > e Bracketing/ Flash.
  • The High ISO NR setting can now be verified in the shooting information display while the High ISO NR option in the shooting menu is applied.
  • Ankara, Riyadh, Kuwait, and Manama have been added to the Time Zone options for the World Time item in the setup menu.
  • If a GPS device is used and no compass heading information is available, —.–° is now displayed for the Position > Compass heading option of the GPS item in the setup menu.
  • When shooting in live view mode with Camera Control Pro 2 (version 2.2.0 or later) and a PC-E lens, aperture can now be adjusted on the computer.
  • Focus in dynamic-area AF mode has been improved.
  • Focusing in contrast-detection AF has been improved.
  • The automatic white balance has been improved.
  • The fourth digit of the seconds in the GPS latitude and longitude data is now rounded instead of omitted.
  • The current setting for MB-D10 batteries can now be checked in the shooting information display when R6/AA batteries are used in the Multi-Power Battery Pack MB-D10.
  • The problem that caused extra noise in exposure mode shooting [M] at the bulb shutter speed, where the shutter was held open for less than eight seconds and Noise Reduction. slow shutter speed was enabled has been resolved.
  • The issue that caused the shutter to not be released at the specified shutter speed if no operations were performed for 30 seconds in mirror up mode has been resolved.
  • The issue that resulted in a different display when Image Review was set to On and the zoom in button was pressed immediately after shooting with the following settings has been resolved.
    • Image quality: NEF (RAW) + JPEG
    • NEF (RAW) recording: lossless or compressed
    • Image Size: Small or Medium
  • When the Speedlight SB-800 is attached to the camera with the flash mode set to Distance-priority Manual (GN) and the camera is activated from standby mode by the Meter Off function, the distance information displayed on the camera will change. the SB-800. This problem has now been resolved.
