Apple has new firmware for the latest line of Macbook notebooks released. The update addresses the operation of the multi-touch trackpad and fixes some issues that emerged after the new Macbook and Macbook Pro laptops were introduced. Apple has the new firmware on this location as a dmg file and write the following over it:

About MacBook, MacBook Pro Trackpad Firmware Update
This firmware update addresses an issue where trackpad clicks may not be recognized on MacBook (Late 2008) and MacBook Pro (Late 2008) systems. The update package will install an updater application into the Applications/Utilities folder and will launch it automatically. Follow the instructions in the updater application to complete the update process.
