Apple has released an update for version 5.1 of iOS. Apple’s iOS is the operating system for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. Updating the software is easy; if the device to be upgraded already has iOS 5, this can be done without using a computer. If you do want to perform the upgrade via a cable, then the Windows or Mac OS X system used must have at least version 10.6 of iTunes. As the small jump in version number suggests, the update contains no new features and we only find bug fixes.

This update contains improvements and bug fixes, including:

• Using the HDR option via the lock screen has been improved
• Fixes bug that prevented new iPad from switching between 2G and 3G
• Fixes bug that prevented AirPlay from playing video all the time
• Improved Safari Bookmarks and Reading List sync
• Fixes an issue with “Failed to Purchase” message appearing after successful purchase
