Apple has released version 11.2.5 of iOS. Apple iOS is the operating system for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. Version 11 of iOS can only be installed on iPhone 5s, iPad mini 2, and sixth generation iPod touch or later. In version 11, among other things, the Control Center has been given a new look and h265 can be used for storing photos and videos. The system asks to activate the ‘Do Not Disturb While Driving’ if it suspects that the device is on the way. Furthermore, there are new ways to use different apps at the same time and developers are given ARkit to create virtual or mixed reality apps. In version 11.2.5, support for the HomePod has also been added and Siri can now read the news from an English source.

• Siri can now read the news, just ask, “Hey Siri, play the news”. You can also ask for specific news categories including Sports, Business or Music.

Other improvements and fixes

• Addresses an issue that could cause the Phone app to display incomplete information in the call list
• Fixes an issue that caused Mail notifications from some Exchange accounts to disappear from the Lock screen when unlocking iPhone X with Face ID
• Addresses an issue that could cause Messages conversations to temporarily be listed out of order
• Fixes an issue in CarPlay where Now Playing controls become unresponsive after multiple track changes
• Adds ability for VoiceOver to announce playback destinations and AirPod battery level
