DJI has released new firmware that adds a Dual Remote Controller mode to the Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic 2 Zoom. It allows users to control the drone with two controllers at the same time, with one person controlling the drone and another controlling the camera.

After installing firmware v01.0.04.00, it is possible to pair two physical controllers simultaneously with the Mavic 2, in a master/slave configuration. The master controller always has priority over the slave controller. This also makes the new function suitable for flying lessons: if the student threatens to make a mistake, the teacher can intervene at any time via the master controller.

Users can install the firmware update through the DJI GO 4 app for iOS and Android or through DJI Assistant 2 for Windows and macOS. The DJI GO 4 smartphone app must first be updated to the latest version v4.3.16. The new firmware for the Mavic 2 also fixes some bugs, such as the erroneous GPS data in some photos when viewed on a computer.
