Firmware PSP enables bluetooth tethering
Sony has released version 6.10 of its PSP firmware. The new version includes support for tethering via bluetooth and SensMe, while the Media Go application has also been updated. The new firmware is immediately available.
With version 6.10 of the firmware for the PSP, Sony on Thursday completed preparations for the launch of the PSP Go, which will be in stores from October 1. With the new firmware, Sony will update the Media Go application, introduce SensMe for the PSP and support for tethering via bluetooth. The update is now available for download from the PlayStation Network.
The new functionality ensures that a connection can be made via Bluetooth with, for example, a telephone, after which the internet connection of the connected device can be used by the PSP Go. Even if no WiFi connection is available, the user can access the internet in this way.
SensMe is an application that allows music on the PSP to be categorized into categories. The program is known from several Sony Ericsson phones. In the PSP version, the categories relate to different moods. Based on twelve tones, the imported music tracks are divided into twelve different channels. The SensMe application still needs to be downloaded separately after updating the firmware. Finally, firmware version 6.10 contains some updates for Media Go. Similar to iTunes, this application is used to transfer media between a PC and the PSP, and to purchase new music from the PlayStation Store, for example.
