Firefox version 63 introduces improved protection against third-party tracking

Mozilla has released Firefox version 63, which gives users the ability to prevent third-party tracking cookies from tracking browsing activity.

Specifically, it’s an option in Firefox’s settings that allows users to prevent tracking when browsing from site to site. The cookies required for this can be blocked by checking a simple setting in Firefox.

This feature, called Enhanced Tracking Protection, is disabled by default. Mozilla says it will continue to test this feature and hopes to enable it by default for everyone in Firefox by 2019. It will most likely be version 65.

This function can distinguish between trackers or all third-party cookies. If the latter setting is chosen, certain websites may no longer work or users may be logged out of websites.

FireFox 63 also comes with some other innovations. The new version detects whether PC users in Windows are using a light or dark color setting, which the browser adapts to. There will also be shortcuts for Siri in Firefox for iOS.
