Firefox adds chat function to ‘Firefox Hello’
The update to version number 41 of Mozilla’s Firefox browser for desktops extends the “Firefox Hello” feature with im functionality. With Hello you can chat with others directly via any modern browser, without further plug-ins, by means of audio, video and now also with text.
Firefox developed the chat function in collaboration with the Spanish telephone company Telefónica. The phone company was also one of the first to offer phones with Firefox OS. The Hello feature has been in the browser for a while, but now also supports instant messaging. In addition to this most eye-catching new feature, it is now also possible to add a photo to a Firefox account. If a user is logged in with a Firefox account, the Hello feature provides the option to create a contact list. In addition, the browser can now also display fav icons in the svg format and perfect forward secrecy is now a requirement for the use of webrtc content.
The mobile version of the browser for Android has also been overhauled, including the system to use various search engines, and improvements have been made to the system to save bookmarks. All changes can be found in the changelog on the Mozilla site.
