David Zinsner, Intel’s chief financial officer, said at a company conference that Windows will get “a refresh” in 2024. According to the man, this refresh would also ensure favorable financial results for Intel.

David Zinsner made the statement during the Intel Corporation Global Technology Conference that took place last month. According to PCGamer editors, who has pored over a transcript of an interview with the man, the CFO thinks that the Windows installed base is quite old and needs a refresh. According to Zinsner, this would take place in 2024. “We think 2024 will be a good year, partly thanks to the Windows refresh.”

It is not clear what exactly the CFO means with this statement, because the man did not provide any further details. PCGamer suspects that Microsoft wants to introduce Windows 12, but that has not been confirmed. The editors of WindowsCentral stated in 2022 that Microsoft wants to release a major release of the Windows operating system every three years. WindowsCentral then believed that the next version of Windows would be released in 2024 and that the next version of Windows had been codenamed Next Valley.

Windows 11 was released in October 2021. The operating system then introduced a redesigned start menu, improved window management, new graphic themes and many other new features. Company documents leaked last summer also show that Microsoft wants to turn Windows 11 into a cloud service.
