Files in Google Drive all become available offline in Chrome browser
Google Drive makes it possible to use all files offline in the web client from now on. Soon this will not only be possible with Drive files, but also with external file formats such as PDFs or Office documents.
It has always been possible to use Google Drive files offline in the Chrome browser, but it was not possible for other files. Before that, users always had to download the desktop client. In the future, it will also be possible to store such files as PDFs, images, or Microsoft Office files offline in the browser. This is only possible in Chrome, and it doesn’t work on ChromeOS yet.
For now, the feature is only available to G-Suite users, and only in beta form. In the future, Google wants to bring the feature to regular Drive users as well. In addition to making them available offline, it is also possible to open other files from now on in the corresponding programs on the computer.
