The sixth update for FIFA 19 aims to fix and reduce lagging during online matches. The update is now live for the PC version. EA promises that the updates for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions will follow later this week.

In the FIFA 19 pitch notes, the development team reports that it has improved gameplay response times for online modes in the event of network failure. Delayed response times have long been an issue in FIFA 19 and have been one of the biggest sources of community complaints, the team acknowledges. Modes listed are FUT Champions, FUT Division Rivals, FUT Online Draft, FIFA Pro Clubs, and FIFA Co-op Seasons.

The team emphasized in the message that it had been aware of the issues with lagging for some time. “We noticed an issue where overall gameplay response times in online matches could be negatively impacted by a single player’s network connectivity failure, which is not our intention. From now on, gameplay response times must be supported by each player’s own connection,” explains the team.

It is unknown if this is the only source of lagging in the online matches. The development team says it is still investigating other possible causes and issues.
