In Heerhugowaard, not 23 percent of the inhabitants have signed up for fiber from E-Fiber, as this organization claimed, but only 3.3 percent. At 35 percent, free construction would follow.

At the time of writing, the E-Fiber page still states that the number of registrations achieved in Heerhugowaard is 23 percent. However, Alderman Monique Stam van Heerhugowaard informed the city council on Thursday evening that the actual percentage is 3.3.

The municipality suspects that E-Fiber has deliberately increased the percentage to move residents to a final sprint. The aim of the fiber optic project was to have 35 percent of residents sign up for a subscription before next Sunday. From that percentage, the construction of the network would be free.

According to the Heerhugowaards Dagblad, there are also doubts in the municipalities of Koggenland and Schagen due to the misrepresentation. In those municipalities, the counter is 27 and 25 percent respectively.
