Fedora is working on its own partition manager
Fedora should eventually get a new partition manager that can better handle new file systems and the various storage techniques. Developer Vratislav Podzimek is therefore working on the Blivet gui tool, which is very similar in appearance to the well-known Gparted.
The Blivet gui software uses the Blivet python scripts that are part of Fedora’s Anaconda installer. Unlike other partition tools, Anaconda can use almost all modern storage techniques, according to Podzimek. However, the tool is still under construction and support for things like creating raid configurations and a btrfs file system has yet to be implemented, as well as more capabilities for lvm volumes.
Blivet’s graphical interface is very similar to that of Gparted. The developer says that he has chosen to do this so as not to create major barriers for users of the partition tool. In time, the Blivet gui should also become a standard part of the Fedora Linux distribution, whereby the Anaconda installer can be configured using a configuration file. Users can already install a test version.
