FC 24 reaches 14.5 million active players in the first month after release
FC 24 had 14.5 million active accounts across consoles and PC after the first four weeks of release. Publisher EA states in its quarterly figures that the success of the game is partly the reason that its turnover and profit have both increased compared to last year.
According to EA the football games performed above expectations this quarter. Revenues from this series increased by 41 percent compared to the same quarter of 2022, according to GamesIndustry.biz. This also includes new revenues from its predecessor, FIFA 23. It is not clear how many players the latter game had after four weeks. EA has earlier announced that game had 10.3 million players within a week, but the same figures are not available for FC 24.
Revenue guidance remained the same compared to last year, while earnings per share increased by 25 cents. Therefore, Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter concludes that EA will save more by no longer paying for the FIFA license than it will cost to build brand awareness for the new franchise. writes VentureBeat.
Net sales for the quarter ended September 30 were $1.914 billion, compared to $1.904 billion in the same period in 2022. Profit increased by 100 million dollars from 299 to 399 million. In addition to the football franchise, the reason for the growth is also the success of the Madden NFL series, which also performed above EA’s expectations.
