FBI Will Not Hire Anyone Who Lies About Illegal Downloading
The FBI asks applicants not only whether they have used drugs or committed fraud, but also whether they have downloaded anything. Anyone who has ever done that and lies about it will never be allowed to work for the government service again.
An employee released this during an interview about internships with students at California State University, the university magazine writes. During the conversation, the employee, Steve Dupre, answered the question of what factors might be threatening once the FBI hires someone. He was not only talking about issues such as drug use and fraud, but also about downloading copyrighted material.
According to Dupre, the FBI asks applicants how often and how many songs, films and books they have illegally downloaded, because the service sees that as stealing. The service records the entire conversation and compares the answers given with a survey at a later time. Whoever lies can never work for the FBI again. Not even if the applicant had already landed a job.
It is not surprising that the FBI is so fiercely against illegal downloading. The US government has been taking stubborn action against software piracy for years. It was not clear in the interview what the FBI will do if applicants are honest about their controversial download history.
