Fatshark shows two new trailers for Warhammer 40,000: Darktide
Fatshark Games has released new footage from Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. One trailer features gameplay explaining the game’s story and the other is more unadulterated gameplay of the Left 4 Dead-esque co-op shooter.
In the more directed trailer, shown during the Summer Games Fest, explains that the player characters in the game are from the so-called penal legion, a part of the Imperial army made up of detainees. Their task is to rid the hive city of Tertium of the forces of Chaos who have infiltrated there. Given the persistence of the contamination of the city, the survivability of the troops is estimated to be slim.
In the gameplay footage see more of the different classes the game will offer in action. There are Psykers with psychic powers, towering Ogryns who rely on brute strength, veterans of the Emperor’s army armed with the trademark chainswords and more. It is also clear to see that despite the hordes of enemies that come at the players, there is the possibility to focus more on firearms than on melee weapons.
Darktide is more or less a sequel to Warhammer: Vermintide 2, which was set in this universe’s fantasy counterpart. Features of that game are a focus on cooperative pve play, division of roles within the team, large numbers of enemies, including extra strong units and others with special powers.
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is coming September 13 for Xbox Series X and S and Windows. The writer for the game is Dan Abnett. He is a well-known author of Warhammer 40K books. The music will be provided by Jesper Kyd, who also did Vermintide 2, Borderlands, Darksiders, Assassin’s Creed and more.
