Fatshark Postpones Warhammer 40,000: Darktide Until Spring Next Year
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide will no longer be released in 2021, as announced at the end of last year, but in the spring of 2022, developer Fatshark has announced. The Swedish company needs more time to work on the levels, among other things.
Fatshark announced Warhammer 40,000: Darktide last year with a scheduled release sometime in 2021, but the Stockholm studio won’t be able to finalize the game this year. The company cites the impact of the corona pandemic as one of the reasons why the development has presented challenges.
The studio will use the extra time to focus on the quality of the levels of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. In addition, Fatshark wants to support more systems with the game, which also takes time. The first-person co-op game should be released sometime in the spring of next year.
At the announcement, there was talk of a release on Steam and for the Xbox Series S|X, but the game may be available on more platforms upon release or later, according to the announcement of the postponement. It is a four player co-op game with different characters with different playstyles to choose from. Fatshark is also the studio of the Warhammer: Vermintide games.
