Microsoft is showing its revamped Xbox interface and says the software will be released simultaneously with the release of Xbox Series X. That console will be released in November. The new interface is faster and uses 40 percent less ram, according to Microsoft.

The revamped Xbox interface is coming to both current Xbox One consoles and the new Xbox Series X. Other Xbox software and apps for Windows and mobile devices are also getting a look that matches the new interface.

Existing consoles and software will receive the new interface via an update. According to Microsoft, loading the home page is 50 percent faster when turning on a console. Switching back to the interface from a game would be 30 percent faster. Whether those numbers apply to the Xbox One S or Xbox One X, or both, is not clear.

Microsoft says the new interface is not only faster, but it also uses 40 percent less memory than the current Xbox interface. It is also possible to capture images during gaming with the new interface and send it directly to a smartphone. That should make sharing gameplay footage easier.

The new interface will be released when the Xbox Series X hits stores. Microsoft previously said it would release that console in November, without specifying a date. According to rumors, the new Xbox may be released on November 6.
