Fasetto wants to release a tiny 2TB wireless SSD
The company Fasetto is working on a very compact NAS with an SSD storage capacity of 2TB. The NAS contains its own battery, SOC and operating system, and up to twenty devices can connect to it simultaneously via WiFi-ac.
The Fasetto Link measures 48x48x23mm and weighs 113.11 grams. The housing is made of aluminum and plastic, and is resistant to water. The processor is an ARM quad-core and the Link has 4GB of ram. Furthermore, support for bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi-ac is available. The theoretical transfer rate, when using a WiFi-ac router, is 1900Mbit/s.
According to the manufacturer, the flash memory offers read speeds of up to 2500MB/s and write speeds of 1500MB/s, but this seems excessive, because this would bring the SSD to the level of the fast PCI-e SSDs of the moment. The NAS runs Link OS, and can stream to seven users and connect to twenty devices simultaneously. Users must only have a browser and it must also work cross-platform. Even if there is no internet connection, Link could still connect to other systems in the vicinity via Wi-Fi, using its own transport layer called ARCH.
The battery with a capacity of 1350mAh must guarantee autonomous operation. The Link will get hefty prices: the 256GB edition will cost $349, the 512GB version $549 and the 1TB Link $949. The 2TB version should go for $1449. The device will go on sale at the end of this year.
