Farm simulation game Stardew Valley is coming to Android and iOS
Stardew Valley, from developer Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone, is getting an Android and iOS version. The iOS version will be available from October 24, and the Android version “will follow shortly.” The postage costs 8.99 euros.
Barone reports that the version will have a new user interface, with controls and menus designed for smartphones and tablets. Players who have the PC version can transfer their saved data to iOS via iTunes. Barone does emphasize that PC mods will not work in the mobile versions. It is not yet known whether transferring PC data to the Android version will also be possible.
The multiplayer mode is the only feature that will be missing. It is unknown whether this will be added. The developer says that apart from that, the ports are no different from the versions for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. Players pay for the complete game and there are no in-game purchases.
Stardew Valley originally came out on February 26, 2016 for Windows. Eric Barone developed the game all by himself. It took him four years to make Stardew Valley. Chucklefish, known for Starbound and Risk of Rain, is the publisher of the game.
In Stardew Valley, the player inherits a dilapidated farm from his deceased grandfather. The aim of the game is to earn as much money as possible to refurbish and expand the farm. The player can do this by selling his own crops, craft products, fish, gems or minerals. In addition, the player must build close ties with the inhabitants of the village.
According to statistics website SuperData Research, Stardew Valley had 700,000 monthly active players by January 2018. By this time, 3.5 million copies of the game had also been sold.
