Far Cry 6 is getting DLC based on the Rambo and Stranger Things movie and series. In addition, actor Danny Trejo plays a role in another DLC, as himself. There are also special missions for after the main campaign, called Insurgencies and Special Operations.

The aforementioned content will be free, according to Ubisoft, and will be released “throughout the year,” so likely between now and December 31. While Danny Trejo is clearly a well-known person, it doesn’t look like any famous actors or characters from Stranger Things and Rambo are featured in the trailer, so presumably it’s just about using the fictional universes of those two media. The size of this DLC is unknown.

The Special Operations are missions in which players must steal a chemical bomb from arms dealers and take it to extraction. However, the bomb tends to overheat, which means that it must be periodically cooled in, for example, a river. The other missions, the Weekly Insurgencies, are extra difficult missions with extra large rewards. Not much else is said about this.

In addition, Far Cry 6 will receive paid DLC, but that had already been revealed. The antagonists from Far Cry 3, 4 and 5 get their own campaign. They are set in a dreamlike world in which a roguelite-esque gameplay takes place. That is, if they die, they have to start over and can expect a slightly changed game world, but certain upgrades can keep them. A remaster of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is also offered.

The story of Far Cry 6 itself is set on the fictional island of Yara where dictator Anton Castillo and his son hold sway and you as Dani Rojas, a male or female guerrilla fighter, go to war against the regime that oppresses the local population. With the help of a mentor, Juan Cortez, you’ll learn all the tricks of the trade and explore the open world check-point by check-point. Dictator Castillo is played by actor Giancarlo Esposito, known for Breaking Bad and The Mandalorian. The game will be released on October 7 for Windows, Xbox One, Xbox Series, PS4 and PS5.
