Fantasy and sci-fi author Brandon Sanderson has raised more than 18 million euros in four days via Kickstarter. With this, Sanderson broke the Kickstarter record on Friday for Pebble’s crowdfunding campaign for the Time smartwatch from 2015, which yielded the company 11 million euros.

The fundraiser started on March 1. Initially, Sanderson, who wrote some of the Wheel of Time books, wanted to raise $1 million within 30 days. However, that goal was already achieved after 35 minutes, writes The New York Times.

So far, more than 84,000 Kickstarter users have donated money to Sanderson’s project. Pebble’s previous record had 78,471 backers at the end of the crowdfunding campaign, according to The Verge.

The author’s fundraiser runs until March 31. Sanderson plans to use the money to write four new novels. These will be published in 2023 and a book will be published every quarter. Donors who have paid more than $40 can receive the books as e-books, audiobooks, or hardcovers. In what form they receive the books depends on the amount they have donated. It is not yet known what the novels are about.

In addition to the four books, donors can also opt for a “subscription box,” which contains merchandise based on Sanderson’s work, such as The Stormlight Archive.
