Orlande Rodriguez, a Nintendo fan who is a mechanical engineer by day, has recreated the Mario Kart Mach 8 car with a 3D printer and made it fully remote-controlled. The results, with different wheel options, can be downloaded on Thingiverse.

Rodriguez spent more than two months working on the original design with Fusion 360 software, Htxt writes. Initially the design had problems with space and the engine was not powerful enough, but after two more months of optimization, the kart was ready.

It took a week to print, sand and paint the whole thing. The result is a 38 centimeter long car equipped with a brushless 2845 electric motor and Lipo 2S battery. The kart is big enough to accommodate a Mario plush.

The design files can all be found on Thingiverse. Rodriguez has designed several wheels that fit Pro-Line M3 tires. Rodriguez is also working on new designs that can be built on the same foundation.
