Fallout: New Vegas mod New California releases October 23
Radian-Helix Media has published a trailer for the Fallout: New California mod. Coming out on October 23, the mod is basically an all-new Fallout game that uses the Fallout: New Vegas engine.
The main story in Fallout: New California is fully completed and contains 16,000 sentences from dialogues with NPCs, but the mod won’t be released until October, because the creators want to add side quests. Game testers have alerted the mod team to the absence of these quests. In July, interested parties can register for a beta to test the mod.
The extra time until October 23 will also be used for things like plugging plot holes and optimizing the engine. The makers say their work is pushing the limits of what’s possible with the old engine from Fallout: New Vegas. For example, a lot of work goes into making the mod run smoothly on both powerful and less powerful systems. The mod should eventually be able to run on all systems at 60fps.
Fallout: New Vegas was released in 2010 and revolves around the battle between the New California Republic, Caesar’s Legion and the New Vegas Residents. The game, which is separate from Fallout 3, is set in and near Las Vegas, which survived the nuclear war somewhat unscathed and largely intact. A copy of the game Fallout: New Vegas is required to play Fallout: New California.
