Fallout 4 wins best game of 2015 at Dice Awards
At the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences’ Dice Awards for Best Games of 2015, Fallout 4 took home the award for Best Game. In total, the game received three awards, as did The Witcher 3: Wild hunt, Ori and the Blind Forest and Rocket League.
The Dice Awards has been around since 1996 and is an initiative of the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences to award prizes to the best games of the year. This year, Fallout 4 won Bethesda’s award for best game as well as best role playing game and outstanding achievement in game direction. Bethesda took home the big winner thanks to a fourth prize; Fallout Shelter won Mobile Game of the Year. As a result, the studio managed to stay ahead of other studios that participated with only one game.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt received an award for outstanding technical achievement, story and design. Indie games also managed to achieve good performances. Ori and the Blind Forest won awards for animation, artistry and music, Rocket League won the best sports game award for outstanding achievement in online multiplayer, and the Sprite award for a game that made a big impact with disproportionate resources including innovation in gameplay.
During the show, Satoru Iwata was posthumously awarded a prize for all he has done for the game industry. He was praised by Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo of America, for his kindness and generosity. Hideo Kojima was inducted into the Hall of Fame during the show. The designer of the Metal Gear Solid games was also present as a speaker at several presentations.
Despite Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain receiving an award for best adventure game, Konami did not pick up the award, nor did Kojima take it. Last year at The Game Awards, Kojima was denied the award for the game from Konami. He has since left the company and has started his own studio.
